Last night was another fabulous night for the Oscars. It was even better for every kinky haired girl and woman across the United States because the heart warming short, Hair Love won an Academy Award. A momentous moment, it meant our hair DOES matter. The film simple being acknowledged and nominated spoke volumes, but the win validated the black experience. Kiyah Wright spoke to the folks over at the Hollywood Reporter about her journey to becoming apart of the union, a very important accomplishment for black hair stylist, and struggles of finding someone on any production to care for their kinks and curls.
